Vicinity Energy Ideation Event

Calling all Innovators, Engineers & Entrepreneurs

Join Vicinity Energy, the nation’s largest district energy provider, and the Maryland Energy Innovation Accelerator (MEIA) for a hands-on, high-impact hackathon tackling real-world decarbonization challenges in urban thermal systems. This is your chance to work directly with Vicinity’s technical team to shape the future of clean heating and develop solutions that could lead to pilots, partnerships, and investment.

What We're Solving

We’re looking for technical solutions, not broad ideas. Each team will dig into real constraints—site access, infrastructure, controls—and either remove bottlenecks or propose blue-sky innovations that reimagine what’s possible

 Electric Boilers

How can we optimize siting, interconnection, and controls to scale quickly?

Heat Pumps

How do we overcome barriers like water access and integration with district heating networks?

Thermal Storage

What storage technologies or system designs could enable load shifting in dense urban grids
